The PTI Leadership Council recently considered recommendations to enhance traceability with a
focus on technologies that support implementation. The associations which lead PTI’s efforts
(IFPA, CPMA, GS1 US and GS1 Canada) are now issuing a call to action for industry members to join
the Enhancing Traceability Through Technology Working Group. The Working Group will leverage
existing efforts and solutions as it considers how the fresh produce sector can benefit from
implementation to support traceability.
Areas of focus:
• 2-D barcodes on case labels
• Traceability data sharing best practices
• RFID Guidance for implementing traceability
• GLN Guidance and education
• A potential repository for lot number definition schemas
Participation:
• Participation is limited to members of the PTI associations listed above
• Members from across the supply chain, regardless of technical expertise
• Technical experts in the topics of focus
